Welcome to My September Newsletter

Festival of Harvest and Art

I am delighted to be currently exhibiting several paintings at this wonderful exhibition celebrating Harvest at the fabulous Wightman Gallery, near Saffron Walden in Essex.

My paintings are on show alongside work from other talented local artists; Nick Edwards, Louisa Marcq, Sarah Rhys and Amelia Sutherland.

The inspiration for my work has always been the sensation of light across vast skies and the landscapes of East Anglia and beyond. In this new series of harvest-inspired paintings, I was drawn to depicting the hazy dust-laden atmosphere, hanging over farmlands during harvest time. Here, the skies and earth churned up by farm machinery create a magical transience between summer and oncoming autumn. These images merge in my mind's eye, together with the dynamism of billowing chaff and dancing dust spirals that pursue the combine harvesters as they gather in golden crops of wheat and barley.

The exhibition 'Harvest' opened on 6th September with an enjoyable and well-attended Private View

The exhibition continues until 15th October 2024, so there is time to view this celebration of the grand finale of the farming calendar. I do hope you will have the chance to visit.

Wightman Gallery is an independent art space and pottery studio, curated by the talented Annabel Wightman, showcasing works by British artists.

Coming Up This Autumn

November will be a busy month for me! From 5th to 8th November, I will be exhibiting at Art For Youth at Mall Galleries, London SW1. This event was established in 1988 by Diana Brooks MBE to raise funds for the charity, UK Youth. I am very pleased to be aiding this worthy cause, which supports young people facing huge personal barriers. I will also have several paintings on show at Cobbold and Judd Fine Art from 8th to 10th November. This modern and contemporary art gallery specialises in showcasing artists with an East Anglian connection.

Towards the end of the month I will be exhibiting at The Fry Art Gallery in Saffron Walden at their annual exhibition and sale. Over 3,000 works will be on show, all created by artists who have a connection to North West Essex. The event will take place over the weekend of 16th and 17th November. I do hope I will see you at one - or all! - of these exciting events.
